I am fixing dinner before prom for my granddaughter and her boyfriend. Any ideas?

They want a steak dinner with all the trimmings, which is what I will fix. I will also serve (non-alcoholic) sparkling cider. I am planning on setting up a table in my small library/fireplace area of the house and decorating with white candles, white lights, and fresh flowers. What else could/should I do? Any ideas for something unique or different? Thank you.

Make the steak filet mignon, not too thick and not too done. That should be just the right amount. Serve with small whole potatoes browned in butter and tossed with parsley and salt. Accompany by a simple mixed green salad that has a bit of carrot grated over the top and a light dressing of olive oil and vinegar. For dessert, make a colorful tray-for-two of cut fruit: kiwi, strawberries, and pineapple, and serve it with Bavarian Cream. The kids will head off to their prom feeling like royalty but not overloaded.
Reply:I think steak is going to be too much for them. They would be too full to dance or whatever at the prom. Why don't you serve something else with strips of steak in it. Maybe not steak but chicken or something. Maybe pasta with some sauce. My aunt made it and it was delicious. It had pasta, with pepper on it, and a square of salmon. It might be too quiet so you might want some music.

That's so sweet of you by the way.
Reply:we had a choice of chicken or steak or a salad as main meal at my prom. i'd suggest it be a small portion of steak, because as someone else said, having to run to the bathroom during prom is not fun. especially if you have a huge dress on.

and as someone else said, light music in the background.
Reply:?? they don't feed you at proms anymore??

anyway...steak is gonna be too heavy...they may have to take a dump at prom and the last thing you want is a tux or fancy dress hitting the toilet or floor...

go for something light...pasta...hor d'eorves...sushi...corn dogs...anything for the love of jesus but steak...

thank u
Reply:first of all, how very nice of you to do that! that will make a special memory!

how about a shrimp cocktail for starters?

maybe a nice chocolate cheesecake for dessert?
Reply:That is very sweet! Grandparents are the best! Any music? I think you pretty much have it under control. Good Luck. She should be very grateful!!!
Reply:Steak dianna could be good, could be a bit messy though.
