Are silk or fresh flowers better for the wedding party and cake?

I think silk holds up better...but it's really whatever you want...Good luck!

Are silk or fresh flowers better for the wedding party and cake?
i'm having silk flower sfor my wedding, the only reason for this is because my wedding is in the middle of July, and with the warm heat that is to be coming, I don't want my flowers to wilt.
Reply:Real, real, real!

Real flowers on the cake MAKE the cake. I'm serious. I had roses on my cake, I considered silk, but I was so happy I went with the real things in the end.

I'm proud of my cake...

Honestly, silk flowers can end up being more expensive than the real thing. I priced items to be able to make my own centerpieces %26amp; they were going to be almost $20 MORE than ordering them from a florist.

Check with a florst, see your options before you decide. Most will work within your budget.
Reply:Fresh Flowers are a great touch to the wedding party and I would consider it a necessity for the groom's men. However, for your bridesmaids you could be creative and economically efficient by making beautiful silk floral arrangements. The girls can customize their bouquets but I would suggest picking out the colors. The only problem with fresh flowers is at the end of the night the bouquets are usually spent. With silk floral arrangements they last forever. The girls can take them home or you can take them home and put them all together in a nice vase; a decorative way to remember your day.

Fresh flowers look beautiful on wedding cakes! However, they could also be edible flowers. They don't have to be the big ones that you see on your average birthday cake from your local grocery store. But, they could be arranged in front of the cake dwindling diagonally from the top of the cake the bottom.
Reply:For cost reasons, we are using silk flowers, because real ones were way too much money. We're not using flowers on the cake, but the bakery we are using said the florist has to put the flowers on the cake, I think to make sure you don't use flowers that are posionous.........
Reply:silk flowers are cheesy. don't do it.
Reply:Personally I think real is classier. But silk would stand up better
Reply:It's a personal preference issue, I had silk. Just make sure any real flowers that are used on the cake are either specifically for food (food safe) or have something between them and the cake (not just the frosting--something like plastic wrap). Of course, that's not an issue with silk...but then you might just want frosting flowers....

Good luck!
Reply:Silk for the cake.

Either for the wedding party. However, there's just something special about using real flowers on such a special day!
Reply:Fresh. Flowers at a wedding are all about symbolism, and I've never seen a fake flower that looks nearly as pretty as real.
Reply:Either one is fine. Real has the beauty and scent. Silk lasts forever and is also cheaper. If you use fresh flowers on the cake, please make sure they're organic and have never been sprayed with pesticides.
Reply:Silk flowers would be better if the couple wished to keep the decorations, and I'm sure that silk would hold up better.

However, nothing compares to the beauty of a real flower. I would definitely go with real flowers.
Reply:The bakery that made my cake said to use silk.

Who knows where the fresh flowers were laying before they were stuck in the cake that you are about to eat.

I ended up using strawberries dipped in chocolate instead.
Reply:fresh flower....for everything
