Reply:no i have tried that and it does not work. In fact the packages of whatever comes with cut flowers does not actually do anything for them either. I find the cutting the stems at a angle, adding water every day and changing it every couple days and re-cutting the stems works the best.
Reply:There are many answers to this one question. Some say yes and some say no. I have used many different things with my fresh cut flowers. I use a sugar water with hollow stems and aspirin with hard stems. When you bring home the flowers you need to re-cut them under running water. Roses and other hard stems should be cut at a 45 deg angle. Hollow stems cut straight. Remember to add fresh water daily and change it before it slimes up. The cut flowers will take in the water and like it to be fresh. This also helps with the clean up of the vase when the flowers are finish with their blooms.
Reply:There are many little magazine studies about this kind of thing. The one I read said that it didn't have an effect on it, and that water worked best Another said hard alcoholic beverages like gin helped when diluted. I'm not quite sure though.
