What type of fresh flowers work best in bridal updo?

I'm trying to work out the details of my updo for the wedding day. I am not wearing a veil (super sensitive skin would be irritated by the tulle rubbing on my bare skin all day) and I am not wearing a tiara (I'm not a freakin' princess).

So, I've decided to use fresh flowers as my hair accessory. I've heard different stories on what flowers to use. We are using mainly roses for the bouquets but I also love tulips and calla lilies. Which would be the most sturdy and hardy to stay in an updo all day? I will be meeting with my stylist in a couple weeks and will ask her then, but just looking for ideas for now!

Thanks!

Tulips and calla lillies are fine for bouquets...but they'll look comical in your updo...they're way too large and overpowering.

You should probably stick with what matches your boquet anyway...how about baby roses? Smaller versions of the ones in your boquet that match the color as well.
Reply:Neither Cala Lillies or Tulips would stay in your hair all day. I see alot of people with Hibiscus %26amp; Orchids in their hair...Also you might try a Gerber Daisy...Try getting one of each kind of flower you like %26amp; leave it out on the counter all day or in your hair %26amp; see which one lasts longer...I hope this helps! :)
Reply:Lily's, orchids, any flower that splays out to be big and beautiful. Roses might work, but they might be too heavy.
Reply:Totally depends upon the hair style, and the colors you want. Lots of ideas here -

Reply:babys breath

simple, but elegant
Reply:Hey i share the same thoughts with u!

I'll suggest white, small orchids. they r lovely, eye-catching but not too loud. n they r light enough.

if u want bigger flowers, i suggest silk flowers because:

1) they r lighter. real flowers are actually quite heavy n after a while, u'll feel a 'tucking' feeling on your hair.

2) they stay perfect all day. n look gorgeous on camera. real flowers absorb / react to humidity and heat. depending on the venue and condition, your real flowers might start to 'die' halfway through the ceremony.

U have sensitive skin? then all the more u should test if your skin reacts to fresh flowers!

Congrats!
Reply:I think the flowers that you mentioned are probably too big to put into hair.

Try stephanotis, dendrobium orchids, baby's breath.
Reply:babys breath is great because it doesn't dry out however if you have roses in your bouquet I think a rose in your hair would be lovely. If you can find an artificial one that looks just like the real ones on your bouquet that would be the best way. If your willing to spend some $ there are some really realistic ones out there. Tulips will not work at all. They fall apart so easily.
Reply:My florist is gluing flowers onto a headband for me. She said small dendrobium orchids and individual hydrangea blossoms hold up the best.
Reply:Fresh Flowers

Fresh flowers, both individual and wreaths, always look gorgeous and romantic on a bride. If you wish to wear fresh flowers, there are a few things you should investigate in advance. First, speak to your wedding florist and find out what types of flowers will be in season on your wedding day. Also, find out if the particular flowers you have in mind will last throughout your wedding - not all flowers will look fresh for 10 plus hours.

Additionally, size is important! A flower that is too large will overpower your beautiful wedding day hairstyle, so keeping it simple is always best. A couple of good choices that look elegant and are long-lasting would be miniature white stephanotis, narcissus, and small orchids.
Reply:The Cala Lilies would be beautiful, and they come in nearly every color. Some pansies would be nice if you are looking for small flowers, they have alot of color.

I am no hairdresser but I would imagine any of the flowers that are more branchy would be good, like lilacs or cherry blossoms. The branchy ones would be a little sturdier I think.

Congratulations on your wedding!!
