Flopping flower?

How can i keep my cut flowers fresher? my rose from my garden has flopped. is there anything i can do to revive it? (without the use of florist plant food)? i seem to recall that adding sugar in the water helps, is this correct? will i be able to revive my flower? or should i just use this next time from the start t make them last longer? thanks!

Reply:Putting a small amount of sugar in the water does help, try also re-cutting the stems every day or two as it helps them take water, try to cut them slightly diagonally as it gives them more of an open area.
Reply:My mum always adds sugar to hers and they last for ages!
