How do you tactfully teach your male sweetie how to shop for fresher flowers than he got on Valentine's?

The white roses he bought were beautiful, but they are now struggling at 2 days past Valentine's. I know how to check for good rosebud heads, because I have floral experience. But how do you teach your significant male other to pick better flowers for next year, so he won't be dissapointed, without hurting his feelings for buying them in the first place. Without sounding the least bit ungratefull.

I am afraid you can't. You should just learn to appreciate his efforts as they are or you do run the risk of appearing ungrateful.
Reply:Well first, I would try and get him to notice you flower's short life span on his own. Chances are, he will be disapointed. I'd take that chance to tell him how much you loved the flowers, but that you too are sad that they are dead. Then you can tell him "Well, if you want flowers that will live longer, then this is what you should look for......"
Reply:tell him him you love the flowers he gives you but you would like to enjoy the flowers longer than 2 days, [but you know men, they take offense easily. so don't go into great detail.]
Reply:Why can't people just talk? We are supposed to teach our mates what we know. How else can we learn? Just show him what to look for. Don't pre-empt it with any drama. Show him this thread. If it is too easy to offend your partner, then your relationship isn't going to be very fulfilling. I wouldn't stay with someone who I have to be afraid of offending
