Is Submerging Silk Flowers ok?

For my centerpieces, I was thinking of submerging flowers in a cylinder vase with a floating candle on top. Since I'm not sure which fresh flowers can be submerged in water successfully (besides orchids and roses), I was thinking of using Silk Flowers. But I'm not sure if submerging silk flowers in water for 8 hours would deteriorate the silk flowers and fray or something. Anyone know?

Is Submerging Silk Flowers ok?
You can submerge silks without much deterioration (SOME do bleed as Debbie D stated, but not many). You will have to find a way to weigh them down though or they'll float to the top and get caught up with your floating candles.
Reply:When we do this we attach the flowers to fishing weights and hide the weights in the decorative glass "pebbles" we put in the bottom of the vase. Report It
Reply:Hmmm.. you'll prob have to try it out. Leave one soaking over night, in the morning see how it turns out, if it's still ok then your good.
Reply:you won't know until you try
Reply:not sure, go to Michaels get a flower and try it out. It will only cost you about $1.00
Reply:I think the dye would bleed into the water. If fresh flowers will not work, I think plastic would be your best bet.
Reply:The best thing to do is buy some silk flowers and create your centerpiece, then check on them 8 hours later and see what happens.
Reply:Do a test run.......HELLO!
