My flower horn fish look in a really bad shape, PLEASE HELP ASAP !!!!?

hi. my sister bough this 4" flower horn, but she doesnt hav any experience in fish, so she just kinda bought it n brought it home, anyway , i cleaned a 13*10*8 inch aquarium that i had from earlier n put a filter n a heater in it , the heater is set to 26C. which is a good temp for flower horns as i read on the net.. and ive been noticin that its always sared and hidin behind the filter, and it rarely eats when i put the food, it ate immediately after i put the food only twice or so .. and today when i got back from college, i noticed that its in the bottom of the tank, and its motion is unstable, and its distinctive red eyes are actually WHITE !!! !!!!!!! and the water is rather cloudy and smells REALLY bad .....

i put it in another tank in fresh clean water now.. so plz ppl , what is that and what can i do !?????

My flower horn fish look in a really bad shape, PLEASE HELP ASAP !!!!?
you put a flower horn into an uncycled tank it cant cope with it,

the temp should be 27 to 32 c if i was you i would take it back to where ever your sister bought it from.
Reply:It sounds like it's because it was put into a a small, uncycled tank. If he's in a cycled tank now than you should see him improve unless the damage was beyond repair. To cycle the tank quickly, go back to the fish store and get some filter media or gravel from an existing mature tank - it will contain healthy bacteria. Than put this into your tank or filter. Of course, someone with a 13" aquarium should be choosing more suitable fish - it doesn't allow for proper growth room for this one.

Edit: Installing a new filter is great, but because it's new there's no bacteria in it! Since there is no bacteria, there's nothing to convert the ammonia even if you have the worlds best filter, and it takes 4 or 5 weeks to develop all the good bacteria unless you seed it with live bacteria as I suggest above. The smell came so quick because in such a small tank it doesn't take long for the the water to degrade - remember, an FH should have at least a 60 gallon tank.
Reply:hello bro .. what you need to do is to get a new filter for the tank , and you don't need to put any rock or gravel in there bro and if you feeding him pellet and he don't want to eat starve him for 3 days and feed him and see if he eat , if he don't then you need to go and get some blood worm from the store , maybe that would help bro . oh yeah one more thing get some seawater salt and put it in there bro , but read be for you put in there o.k . good luck to you bro .
Reply:I had a beta.. it should snap outta it.. ok if its all white its to cold.... I would no... and my fish was white and wouldnt eat.. similar to yours.. just be calm.. turn the heater up a little.. you might need to go to wal-mart and get some med. for the tank.
