I am not getting married till Mid-October 2009, but am curious about a fall themed wedding as it holds significance to my fiance and me. I have thought about still fresh leaves as decorations and used intead of petals by the flower girls, and also the colors brown and pale yellow, or some variation. Looking for decorating ideas more than anything, as that is all I will be able to do in advance for the wedding. Please help :)
What are some ideas for a Fall based wedding?
First off you do want to have some consideration for whomever is cleaning up and fresh leaves will be crumbled into the carpet. If you don't care then proceed if you want to be considerate then you may want to use some artificial ones.
One thing i always recommend is to buy things that DO NOT have wedding in their title and they will be a lot cheaper. You can get a lot of those fallish items now and this time next year, right after Halloween and then again right after Thanksgiving when they are on sale. The Horn of Plenty decorated with gold and deep red ribbons. Also you could get some of the artificial leaves scatter them on the table with candle centerpieces with those gold and deep red ribbons resembling them.
Reply:One idea could be to use metal place card holders that are in the shape of leaves. Or depending if you are going to be inside a building or outside in a tent you could have ropes wrapped around a tree with leaf cut outs hanging from the rope with people's names and table number on them. A good idea for a favor would be leaf shaped sugar cookies with stripes across them in the colors of your wedding. I think the flower girls dropping leaves instead of petals is a good idea. Also instead of bouquets, your bridesmaids could carry small metal lanterns, Also you could use pumpkins as part of your centerpieces and then let people take them home at the end of the night.Buy Tons of bridal magazines now, all the fall stuff and ideas are in them.
Reply:Congrats on your engagement!
Brown and yellow are good fall colors, if you're looking for others you can go with deep purples, oranges, or even reds.
If it's an indoors wedding, you should consider taking some of the outdoors in, like colored leaves or even small, leafless trees.
Reply:my mother and i actually planned a friend's fall wedding two years ago. for the table, we got fresh leaves and taped the end with wire and floral tape and braided them together to make a runner for the length of the table, then spray painted them glittery gold. we also carved the centers out of smaller pumpkins and apples and placed tea lights in them and lit them after dinner was served. they gave out maple sugar candies as favors so we got small round metal tins and placed two in each and tied a bow around them with brown and orange ribbon and left them at the place setting.
Reply:Pumpkins, cornstalks, mum's %26amp; bails of hay
Reply:I am getting married next October %26amp; we will be using fall colors, mostly oranges %26amp; yellows, with some brown (I'm not a big fan of red) and a leaf motif. Really, the colors will be the main thing I focus on, but the leaf pattern will show up on our invites, thank-you's, centerpieces, etc. Nothing too distracting, just a few little touches here %26amp; there.
We will be giving out caramel apples wrapped in celophane with a small note attached as our favors.
You could use miniature pumpkins with the tops cut out and flowers inside as centerpieces. I've seen this done with small white pumpkins %26amp; a single white daffodil %26amp; it looked beautiful.
I don't recommend using real/fresh leaves since they could make a big mess. You should be able to find boxed fake leaves for pretty cheap after the fall season. You could also get candles in nice, bold fall colors %26amp; then use the leaves around them as a simple decoration.
Check out fall issues of bridal magazines, they usually have creative ideas for the season. Good luck!
Reply:congrats! I've always wanted a fall wedding..but here are some ideas...
small pumpkin centerpieces...
maybe as favors you and your girls could make carmel apples for them to take home...
some good colors are browns, oranges and deep reds...so pretty!!!
Be careful when using fresh leaves as some people may have allergies to them. I guess that depends on how long people will be around them.
Reply:If its an outdoors cermony you can get married under an arch of leaves instead of flowers or under a beatiful tree. For the centerpices you can put out a basket of leaves at each table, and decorate the head table you could could get some leaf garland from Micheals or Wal-MArt that is inexpensive. Congrats on the wedding!
