I want to get my gf flowers, like a dozen roses, just because i love her. But anyways, im picking her up really early in the morning, like 5am, so I dont think any flower shops or places like giant eagle or buhlers would be open. So how could I buy the flowers the night before, and then be able to give them to her in the morning????? thanks!!!

How do you keep a dozen roses fresh overnight?
Put them in a vase with a little bit of water and the perservative they came with and place them in the fridge. If they didn't come with perservatives, add a little sugar even a Tylenol.
Reply:put a little 7 up in the water
Reply:If you purchase your roses from a reputable florist, they will let you know how to look after them until you can give them to your gf. It will likely depend on how they are packaged. If they have individual water reservoirs on each stem, they will be fine in a cool spot overnight, but the household refrigerator is too cold. If they are just cut and the stems are exposed, cut them again about 1 inch above original cut and place in water overnight - again in a cool spot. This prevents them from opening too soon or too quickly. Another question for you - will your gf be able to get them into water immediately? If not, you might consider giving her an arrangement that contains 12 roses or just giving her a single rose. I have seen too many guys spend a bundle on roses, only to have them wilt in the car or on a kitchen counter.
Reply:Don't unwrap the bouquet, just lay it in the fridge. Florist keep their flowers in a cooler, you'll be getting the same result. What a sweet and thoughtful guy!
